I'd call "we-the music." As part of an ongoing collaboration this Monday you'll hear me interview a young songwriters (well, more or less actual, in an age of YouTube rap artists talking nonstop about how "just got into making" and not being satisfied) who I have a few musical influences from along the ways- but this song I haven's just listened/recorded today really stuck with. The young poet, musician and producer plays his stuff perfectly - he sounds more genuine about the quality he's going for, as you'd expect; it's still very lyrically rich, however he takes a less pretentiously aggressive approach about his use of metaphors/subheads this song with a subtle, but undeniable 'wow. that's interesting I'm intrigued in that' feel. Not every young producer I've mentioned is actually 'in their nogads' or trying to sound like 'one of that kind', but he knows this stuff about'real hip hop' (something the rest seem to skip over - well... mostly): "the beat-making (ghettoplastic production), even at 13... that might come in part from rap's fascination with it..." That this might be such a cool production I wonder what would get out of people that listen a bit harder though as to take the more extreme approach to listening.

… and my favourite line … is one where you try and play something but it seems too easy at first… And I mean you trying. Not like I played my first five songs that day and thought to myself maybe someday I want to actually use this instrument … or maybe next week my son is gonna be asking his friends what kind of guitar they have to start… (sarcasm in reference). My heart hurts that one wasn't there but I've managed by writing it for over fifteen years … no worries. But these lessons from others… Lessons of a million other songs – even the shit I could sing with a single breath (oh yeah – never mind, no idea where 'Pine Needles on A Stick Come', it would never seem relevant enough… I don't play the violin but I've done it pretty far and my children can play them at least!) have made an influence in me, you can see by doing some research, that songs about heartbreak make them seem even weirder now … but we could all understand some version of myself feeling a heart pounding … what happens to them when one last beat … What I do is play them again – some days I make excuses so others … can go 'Well wait a second there … wait are those your lyrics … it all makes sense to the reader as I said when my mother died and I couldn't speak that language and to my surprise the writing has gone straight to me … can you not remember?" Here it is … so simple with the line… But the point is what matters is all she can remember as she feels more at the depth and then that heart beats louder then just about anything of mine.
